Best Sydney Parks for BBQ’s

  • Centennial Parklands

Centennial Parklands is made up of several parks which then form one huge area of parkland. The main green spaces are Moore Park, Queens Park and the largest one Centennial Park. There are 8 locations with free electric barbecues within the park all operating on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is plenty of space to chill out and have a picnic and enjoy plenty of sports like cricket, baseball, hockey and soccer pitches.

  • Pirrama Park

This is a beautiful Harbourside green space in Pyrmont, perfect for a lazy picnic. The place has a modern landscape with large grassy areas and barbecue facilities.

  • Bradleys Head Amphitheatre

The man-made amphitheatre at Bradleys Head is a very popular fishing and picnic spot in the Sydney Harbour National Park. The lookout point has great views of the city skyline, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. There is also a nice hiking trail to enjoy after your barbeque.

  • Shelly Beach in Manly

Sydney’s Northern Beaches have great barbeque facilities, particularly the Shelly Beach. The best thing to do is to take a walk from Manly Beach to Shelly Beach for about 15 minutes. You’ll walk past several sculptures along the way on “The Cabbage Tree Bay Eco-Sculpture Walk”. At Shelly beach, you will find plenty of BBQ spots available. Later, you can go for a snorkel or a swim in this lovely sheltered cove.

Facilities are excellent here, with running water and toilet and change rooms. Barbeque facilities are available but coin-operated. There are grassy knolls to relax on, or you can get onto a surf and enjoy the warm ocean waves. There is also parking available if you get there early enough.

Nestled on the eastern shores of West Head in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, the grassy area of the Basin gives you the sense that you’ve come to a secret island. It offers plenty of activities like camping, paddling, swimming and hiking. It has the best vibe for a day and, even night of barbeque festivities.

  • Clifton Gardens

This place is located in Located at Morella Road, Mosman, next to the Sydney Harbour National Park. Beaches, bushland and a whole lot of grass make Clifton Gardens a top spot to unpack the cooler, set up the chairs, and enjoy some grilling! The area has plenty of facilities, toilets, loads of trees for shade, enclosed baths and a berthing jetty. There is a walking trail to Bradleys Head with stunning views of Sydney Harbour and historical buildings along the way.
